YNPN + ShopTalk: Shifting High Burnout Professions Toward Health
Tuesday, July 18
6 - 7:30 p.m.
Goodman South Library (2222 S Park St #101)
Join the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) for a discussion with Katherine Sanders on something many of our members and friends struggle with: Burn Out.
If you’re working within a high burnout profession, you know it. You already know that many of your colleagues, or perhaps even you, will think about quitting… the job, the organization, or even the profession. It is one thing to feel called to be a teacher or a healer, but after months and years the demands of the role (at work and at home) takes its toll on personal health and relationships. While these occupations may be rewarding and meaningful, they are known around the world for exhausting even the most devoted employees. In this talk, Katherine will share what she has learned from her work with medical doctors and teachers about creating supportive work systems to heal and prevent burnout. She will speak to the current crisis across these professions in attracting new talent and encourage the audience to consider what might be gained from designing work systems that are more humane, sustainable and enlivening for the people ‘called’ to do this vital work.
Parking is available on-site. Several buses also make frequent stops along Park Street.
